Sangre Azul, the Blue Bloods RPG Wiki

Sangre Azul is a play-by-post role-playing game based on the Blue Bloods Novels by Melissa de la Cruz. It was established as an Invisionfree forum on January 19, 2008. Sangre Azul's staff has since created an informational website hosted by Daydream-Analysis, but is working on getting a more professional domain name in the near future. The forum has gone through three major revamps: Blue Bloods, Sangre Azul, and Sangre Azul version 2. In its latest version, all of the site's threads were archived and new plot changes were introduced. This version was enstated April 2009.

Who runs Sangre Azul?

The forum was founded by Mer of NY, USA in January 2008. She later took on staff members Ali, Jessi (now retired), Anna, and Misa. Ali is the current head admin, while Misa and Anna preside over the forum as moderators. Due to online confidentiality, their full names remain unknown. However, they can be contacted at bluebloodsrpg@gmail.com, and further contact information is available on the Sangre Azul website and forum.

What can I learn in this Wiki?

This wiki outlines the plots of the Blue Bloods novels in the ways that they relate to the Sangre Azul forum as well as the plots and characters that the forum members have created.

Character Roles

Blue Bloods

Origins

Blue Bloods have existed since the beginning of time; they are vampires, angels expelled from heaven, cursed by God to live out their immortal lives on Earth because of their alliance with Lucifer. Once they came to our world, the Blue Bloods discovered that they were hungry. Their God had punished them with an eternal thirst that could only be satiated by the taste of blood; they had been turned from beautiful creatures into monsters. Two archangels, Michael and Gabriel, willingly gave up their positions in heaven to follow the fallen angels to Earth and help them with their goal of once again earning salvation. Michael and Gabriel became the leaders of the Blue Bloods after they split with Lucifer and his closest followers. Those that wanted to reenter heaven distanced themselves from their former leader, while Lucifer and his group continued to gratify their lust for dominance. A rivalry and deep hatred has existed between the two groups ever since.

Vampire Birth

It is impossible for vampires to procreate amongst themselves. Blue Blood births are just a form of reincarnation for vampires, meaning that the child produced is not modeled after its parents in any way. Blue Bloods who come back to Earth by being born look the same no matter what the time period is or who their "parents" are; they keep their appearance through every regenerative cycle.

In order to create a new vampire, the blood of vampire who has passed on must be implanted in a female Blue Blood through in vitro fertilization. Dr. Pat, a Conduit, is responsible for all conceptions. She also personally monitors the pregnancies of all vampires in her medical office. Female Blue Bloods then carry the spirit of the vampire within them, just as any pregnant woman would.

After nine months, the expecting vampire will then give birth, and the child will age the same as a human. Although vampires are not truly related, many are close, and those that aren't keep up the pretense that they are, all for the sake of keeping their true nature a secret. However, it is not unusual for Blue Blood families to become disconnected after learning that they aren't truly related by blood.

The probability of humans and vampires conceiving together is improbable, but not impossible. The birth of Schuyler Van Alen is proof enough of that. Schuyler's mother was a vampire, but her father was a human familiar, thus making her a a "Dimidium Cognatus" or Half Blood. Schuyler is the first of her kind, and for good reason.

It is against the Blue Bloods' strictest laws to take familiars as life partners, and even more illegal to produce a child from such a union. Much is still unknown about Half Bloods, since Schuyler is the only one in history. No one knows yet the effects of a union between a male vampire and female human, but any Blue Blood who values his life will likely never try for himself.

Only four hundred vampires are ever in existence at a time. When vampires die and new couples are ready to have children, Dr. Pat makes the decision to implant. Unfortunately, less and less pregnancies are holding; many vampires are choosing to stay in their sleeping state rather than return to the real world. This development has recently become a serious problem for the Committee.

The Transformation

Expression

The stage of Expression is especially important to recognize, as it is the stage in which a Blue Blood's "Sunset Years" take place. The Sunset Years is a period of time between the ages of fifteen and twenty-one when a vampire is most vulnerable in its life. The beginning of a Blue Blood's Sunset Years marks the start of the transformation from human to vampire. Blue Bloods at this time are extremely inexperienced with their powers and very weak from the physical and psychological changes occurring within them.

During the Initial Transformation a Blue Blood will experience the following

Blood Manifestation

The manifesting of a vampire's blood signifies the beginning of one's Sunset Years. Usually before a vampire's fifteenth birthday, their blood will begin to assert itself within the body. The most obvious effects of the manifestation are the blue veins, dark and prominent, that create intricate patterns across a Blue Blood's forearms. The veins may itch at times, but they are not known to hurt.

The designs that the veins create are never random; they are a map of a Blue Blood's personal history. The blood or "Sangre Azul" is what marks them as a vampire. The veins appear as a result of a vampire's blood reconnecting with the memories of their past lives. A vampire's blood is alive; it's what allows them to live forever. Having existed since the beginning of time, a vampire's Sangre Azul serves as a living database for their immortal consciousness.

Regenerative Memory Syndrome (RMS)

Regenerative Memory Syndrome, or RMS, is a feeling like deja vu, only stronger. It is directly connected to the manifesting of a vampire's blood, as the feelings of deja vu come from Blue Bloods remembering portions of their past lives. RMS usually occurs when a Blue Blood visits a place or sees a person they've encountered before, only in another lifetime. The effects of RMS range from mild to severe. On the smallest level, vampires will feel like they have been somewhere or have met someone before. Or, one may even feel as though they've traveled through time. As Mimi Force explained: "You would be walking down the street, minding your own business, and the suddenly you were walking down the same street, but in a totally different time. It was like watching some really cool movie, except you were starring in it."

Other people have had much stronger responses to remembering their past and have even blacked out. While visiting the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Bliss Llewellyn described what RMS felt like for her: "And that's when it happened. The world went gray. She was in her skin but not in her skin. The room was constricting. The world was shrinking. All four walls of the temple were suddenly whole. She was in the desert. She could taste the acrid sand in her mouth, feel the hot sun on her back. A thousand scarabs - black and shiny, buzzing - flew out of the temple doors. And that was when she began to scream."

Dr. Pat calls RMS a "cell restructuring cognizance phenomenon, a cataclysmic event in the brain the produces a subsequent time-warp effect." Memory black outs are only become serious when they begin to happen frequently. The black outs rarely last for very long, at the most, four or five minutes.

Nightmares

While nothing has been confirmed, it has been suspected that there is a link between maturing Blue Bloods who have nightmares and Croatan corruption. Those afflicted by nightmares during their Sunset Years often scream themselves awake. Vampires with such conditions should make an appointment with Dr. Pat to have it monitored.

Metabolism

It's no secret at Duchesne that thin is in. Rumors of eating disorders may run rampant, but most of the girls have a legitimate excuse as to why they're so skinny. Blue Bloods have incredibly fast metabolisms, so fast that they can eat whatever they desire and never gain an ounce. Unlike humans, this isn't a characteristic that changes with age. All Blue Bloods, young and old, have fast metabolisms.

Effects of Alcohol

Once a Blue Blood teen begins their transformation, the effect of alcohol on their system weakens. Even after five drinks, a vampire will feel a sober as when they started. It is still possible for Blue Bloods to get drunk, but to do so they must first ingest dangerous amounts of alcohol. Although drinking won't kill a vampire, the Committee still advises against it, since secrets can be spilled while intoxicated.

Cravings

Cravings for a vampire don't begin until later in the transformation, after the blue veins and memory flashbacks. The process of realizing the cravings is slow for some; usually it starts with teens finding the thought of eating cooked meat unappetizing. As time passes, the cravings for raw flesh become so strong that it feels like a physical pain, dark and abiding.

Other symptoms that come from ignoring vampire hunger include headaches, feeling waterlogged, heavy, groggy, dizzy, and sick. The only way to get rid of the pain is to consume something bloody. It is usually the case that Blue Blood teens eat something raw even before they find out they are vampires, just to appease their body's demands.

After a vampire's first taste of raw meat, the taste of cooked meat becomes unbearable.

Vampire Death

Since Blue Bloods age like normal humans do, they also die as mortals do. However, a vampire death is very different from a human death. A vampire cannot be killed by human means (such as accidents or illness), only old age, Croatan consumption, or Black Fire.

Medical Emergencies

Since Blue Bloods are immortal, their bodies are not like other humans'. To avoid unnecessary questions, vampires are encouraged to visit Dr. Pat's office in the case of a medical emergency, rather than visiting a regular hospital or ER.

Cycling

The vampire term for dying is "cycling," which implies that a Blue Blood will return some time in the future. In order to return, a sample of a vampire's blood must be saved and taken to Dr. Pat to be preserved for implanting. At around one hundred years, a Blue Blood's body begins to prepare for hibernation. After a vampire cycles, their body becomes an empty shell, fit for burial or whatever the family's wishes are.

Cycling Early

Some Blue Bloods, unable to cope with the stress of living in the human world, opt to cycle early. Bliss Llewellyn was told by her father that this was the case with her mother.

Hibernation

Hibernation only occurs with vampires who are weary of immortality and at the end of their one hundred year cycle. It is a term for prolonged sleep. Croatan Consumption ====

One way a Blue Blood can be killed is by full Croatan consumption. If a Croatan drains a Blue Blood, they consume all of their memories through their Sangre Azul. Thus, there is no blood to be saved for the next cycle for Dr. Pat to implant.

Black Fire

Black Fire is a material used by Silver Bloods -- particularly Lucifer's brother Leviathan, whose spear is poisoned with it -- that corrodes Blue Blood. Once Black Fire comes in contact with a Blue Blood's veins, or pierces them, then the corrosion begins. The results are irrevocable. A Blue Blood will die within minutes. There is not antidote and no blood can be salvaged for cycling at a later date.

Enmortals

Those that choose not to cycle and instead keep their same physical shells become Enmortals. Some Committee Elders are Enmortals, but regular Committee members must be awarded special dispensation first.

Familiars

Purpose of Human Familiars

They are those that give of themselves to vampires -- sometimes willingly, sometimes because they are under a vampire's spell. Familiars are sources of food for vampires and, once taken, cannot be claimed by any other Blue Blood. By taking a familiar, a Blue Blood creates a bond between them and that person, linking the two for eternity. From the first bite on, a familiar will be inexplicably consumed by thoughts of the Blue Blood that claimed them.

Their reaction is something that resembles love, but many Blue Bloods would attest that it is more like obsession. This result helps Blue Bloods access their familiars at any time. Many familiars and Blue Bloods are mistaken for couples, and some are, at least in the eyes of the humans. However, familiars are never allowed to be life partners. Familiars can only be used once every 48 hours because blood letting exhausts the body; however, not all vampires obey this rule, and sometimes familiars are abused.

The Sacred Kiss

Caerimonia Osculor, also known as the “Sacred Kiss,” is the term used by vampires to mean blood-sucking. Through Caerimonia Osculor, vampires replenish their bodies with crimson blood from a familiar.

Fangs

Much like vampires of legend, Blue Bloods have fangs. However, unlike common stories, a Blue Blood's fangs are not in their front canines, but half way back into their mouth. Fangs can be revealed and retracted at any time, as described by Schuyler Van Alen in the books: "Underneath a small tooth she'd never noticed before, on each side, she felt a sharp point. If you concentrate, you can bring them out. She rolled a finger over them, and pictured the teeth lengthening, coming out of her gums. Amazingly, small sharp enamel fangs began to protrude downward."

To retract one’s fangs, all a vampire has to do is imagine them disappearing; their teeth will then shrink according to the mental picture.

Caerimonia Osculor

The process of drinking blood is not a difficult one. Vampires usually start out with kissing so that their fixation with a victim’s neck is not obvious. If a potential victim allows the kissing to continue, then a Blue Blood is allowed to decide whether or not to drink.

Once the teeth break the skin and a vampire tastes blood, the process of changing a human into a familiar begins. During Caerimonia Osculor, the blood of the vampire and human mix, creating an eternal bond between the two. The results of the act are very powerful.

In addition to the bond it creates, the Sacred Kiss provides something else for Blue Bloods: complete access to their victim’s mind. After tasting blood, a vampire can sift through every thought or memory their familiar has ever had. Schuyler Van Alen explained the sensation when she drank blood for the first time:

"As she did so, her senses heightened, and his mind became open to her. The blood memory came flashing out. It was just as Bliss had said: she was devouring his soul, his very being...and, what was this? His mind was an open book to her now, his blood mixing with hers, reviving hers...and she could read every thought he'd ever had in his life...could access every memory."

Side Effects

Bloodletting exhausts the human body, so human familiars typically sleep after a vampire takes a drink. During this period of sleep, the bite marks begin to fade. After only a few hours, the bites will come to resemble hickeys; this helps Blue Bloods stay under the radar.

Another convenient side effect of the Sacred Kiss is amnesia. Upon awakening, a newly made familiar will have no memory of being bitten. Vampires are allowed to tell their familiars what they are, but the amnesia effect is still a safety net for Blue Bloods who wish to keep their identity a secret.

Familiars can be trusted with the secret of their Blue Blood master because their love that is spawned by the Sacred Kiss prevents them from doing anything to harm the vampire that claimed them.

Committee Rules Regarding Familiars

  • Familiars are only to be used once every forty-eight hours so they can rest. To avoid starvation, many Blue Bloods have multiple familiars, which they drink from according to a schedule.
  • Familiars are to be treated with respect compassion, and affection for their service; they are not to be mistreated or abused.
  • Blue Bloods must be eighteen years or older to take on a familiar. This rule is being broken more and more. Stories of Blue Bloods taking familiars as young as fifteen are beginning to make the rounds.
  • Familiars must not be drained. Drinking all of a human’s blood, thus killing them, is a strictly enforced rule of the Committee. No harm must come to familiars.
  • Conduits, assigned or otherwise, may not be familiars.
  • Blue Bloods may not drink from other Blue Bloods. To do so puts one among the ranks of the Croatans (or Silver Bloods), the Blue Blood’s evil brethren. Drinking from other vampires is completely forbidden.
  • Familiars must be willing to participate in the process before they can be bitten. This does not mean that a vampire tells their victim what they are about to do, only that a vampire does not take blood while the human is kicking and screaming. Unfortunately, this rule is broken also. Unless caught in the act, it is hard to convict a vampire of turning an unwilling familiar; a result of the Sacred Kiss is undying loyalty, so it is unlikely that a familiar would testify against their Blue Blood master. The only exception to this rule is the use of “The Call.”

The Call

The Code of the vampires allows the use of powers of seduction if a Blue Blood is desperate to drink. The vampire would use The Call to draw the human to him, hypnotizing the human and drawing its blood.

Canine Familiars

Canine Familiars are different from Human Familiars; they do not provide blood, but a different type of service. Canine Familiars may look like regular dogs, but they are actually a physical version of a Blue Blood's soul sent to Earth to protect them during their Sunset Years. A Canine Familiar's job is to act as a guardian, a ministering angel, in order to make sure that their Blue Blood makes it to the next stage of their life intact. A Canine Familiar may be any breed. Schuyler and Jack have Bloodhounds, Mimi has a Chow, and Bliss and Aggie both have Chihuahuas. Canine Familiars are not purchased or bred; the dogs find their owners in mysterious ways.

Conduits

Definition

Conduits are human families that are traditionally assigned to protect vampires lines, especially when the vampires are young and just growing into their powers. Unfortunately, in their hubris, many Blue Blood families assume that they are too strong to need protecting. Only certain Blue Blood families still keep Conduits, who are assigned to vampires at birth.

Those who aren't connected to a family either fade out of the Conduit world or work in the Repository of History, below The Bank and Block 122, to keep the Blue Bloods' history safe from prying eyes. Conduits can also work as doctors, lawyers, accountants, or financiers -- either for a specific family, or for the Blue Blood world as a whole.

Conduits are guardians and protectors, but they are also looked down upon by most Blue Bloods as nothing more than servants. However, not all Conduits are mistreated. In the novels, Schuyler Van Alen and her Conduit Oliver are best friends. She did not know he was her Conduit until she was 15, when she discovered she was a vampire. She sees the injustice in the way Conduits are treated.

It is impossible to become a Conduit, it is something designated at birth. Either you are born into a family of Conduits or you are not -- the ancient practice is passed down through tradition and taught from an early age.

Repository of History

The Repository was a library that used to be beneath The Bank and Block 122 (clubs next door to each other on Houston Street in the Lower East Side). There was an entrance leading underground from each of the clubs. To keep out Red Bloods, Conduits had keys to access the Repository.

"It was a library -- a very large, airy space that smelled like chalk dust and parchment. There were bookshelves that reached 75 feet to the ceiling, and a maze of ladders and bridges that connected the towering stacks. It was bright and well lit, and decorated with cozy Aubusson rugs and bankers lamps. Several scholars at rolltop desks looked up curiously when they entered." Now, the Repository has moved to lay beneath Force Tower, the center for all the latest in the entertainment industry, owned by former Blue Blood Regis, Charles Force.

Vampire Powers

Vampires have many powers, some physical, some mental. Each ability contributes to the vampire race, making them a formidable species, skilled and lethal. For vampires, powers never develop the exact same way. Different vampires might have different abilities of varying degrees; it all depends on the individual.

Velox

Velox is another name for vampire speed. Humans have called it invisibility, but the truth is that vampires move so fast that they cannot be detected, even by alarms or cameras. Schuyler Van Alen can run to the Metropolitan Museum of Art from her apartment and steal a bracelet in less than a second, without anyone suspecting a thing.

Animadverto

Translated from the Old Language to mean "Intelligent Sight," Animadverto is the reason for vampires' super intelligence. Contrary to popular belief, vampires don't have infinite knowledge, only photographic memories. These memories are then perfectly preserved through their immortal blood, which manifests and brings backs a vampire's memories in their teenage years, giving the impression that they know all. A vampire can finish and encyclopedia in five minutes, then recite any page verbatim, just by closing their eyes and imagining the pages.

Glom

Glom is the art of controlling minds. Those who are underage are advised by The Committee against practicing it, since it tends to weaken those who attempt it. There are four factors of the mental power, one of them being telepathy. Most vampires can read human minds, but only the most powerful vampires can perform mind-control on weaker beings. With practice, one can also learn to block others out, in addition to letting them in.

In the Blue Bloods Novels, Mimi described what it felt like when her brother Jack rejected her from his mind: "His mind was closed to hers. When she reached out to feel his presence, there was nothing. A blank slate. No, more like a muffling. A blanket over a stereo. He was tuning her out. Masking her thoughts. Asserting his independence from her. It was troubling, to say the least."

Illuminata

Besides their blue veins, vampires have a special gift that makes them recognizable to each other. Vampires glow in the dark, like they have an inner light that accentuates their features. With the lights out, vampires appear as though they are made of white, translucent marble. This characteristic is known as Illuminata. Red Bloods are blind to the Illuminata's effects, but for vampires it's an easy way to know if there is another vampire in the room.

Mutatio

Mutatio is a form of metamorphosis. Every Blue Blood has the ability to change into smoke, air, or fog. Most vampires can also change into fire and water, too, with practice. Many, if not all, can also take the forms of different animals or people. In the case of animals, the physical form there is known as a "mutatus." While Blue Bloods can change into a wide variety of wild creatures, it is common for vampires to choose one "mutatus" and stick with it. Generally, a vampire's "mutatus" is a representation of their magical abilities as well as their personality.

Comsummo Alienari

Consummo is technically a factor of Glom, but its effects are so severe, that it is generally regarded as a separate skill among the Blue Bloods. Consummo Alienari means instant death for any human unlucky enough to subjected to it, but for vampires, it means paralysis. By entering a victim's mind, a vampire can lock their body and force them to exactly as they please. A victim of Consummo Alienari has no control of themselves, unless they can find the mental link with their attacker and reverse Consummo onto them. In the books, Schuyler Van Alen described what Consummo Alienari felt like when she was the victim:

"She felt disoriented and broken. Someone had savagely entered her mind. She recognized the act immediately as a manipulation. It was an unforgivable trespass, and she felt violated, naked, and terribly afraid."

Magic & Spells

Vampires are capable of doing magic by using words and phrases from the Sacred Language for spells.

The Old Language
Terms & Phrases
  • "Croatan" means "Abomination."
  • "Dimidium Cognatus" means "Half Blood."
  • "Facio Valiturus Fortis" means "be strong and brave."
  • "Materia Acerbus" means "Dark Matter," subjects that involve Lucifer.
  • "Vam-pyre" means "Fire Angel."
  • "Vos Vadum Reverto" means "you shall return." Recited at Blue Blood funerals.
  • "Infractio" means a "breaking," a weakness.
  • "Neci Infideles!" means "Death to to the faithless! Death to traitors!"
Spells
  • "Dormio" is a sleeping spell.
  • "Modo Caecus" is a blinding spell, which makes people forget what they saw.
  • "Aperio Oris" means "reveal yourself." This is used to make Croatans show their faces.

Other Powers

Other powers belonging to the Blue Blood race include superhuman strength, shape-shifting, and stopping time. All vampires are strong and a few are shape-shifters who are able to change their physical form at will. The most rare power of all is the ability to stop time as only one Blue Blood in recorded history has ever been able to demonstrate this power, and only did so once in all the centuries they were on earth.

Drinking Blood

Blue Bloods > Red Bloods

When a Blue Blood drinks from a Red Blood, the Red Blood becomes a human familiar. Once the vampire inserts its fangs and begins to drink, the blood of the vampire and human mix, forging an everlasting bond between the two that establishes the Red Blood's role as a familiar. However, a Red Blood is not guaranteed to become a familiar if no blood is exchanged and a Blue Blood's fangs merely pierce the skin. connotation :/ embarrassing

Blue Bloods > Familiars

Blue Bloods drinking from human familiars is not only socially acceptable in vampire society, but necessary for survival. By age 18, the vampire age of consent, all Blue Bloods should have a familiar. This is to establish a habit of drinking so that when a Blue Blood turns 21, he or she will be prepared for their soon-to-be all-blood diet. At 21, a vampire needs only human blood in order to survive; from then on, human food is usually consumed out of habit or to keep up appearances.

After age 18, vampires who ignore their cravings run the risk of going into a coma. To avoid this, Blue Bloods drink fairly often. A vampire can go for three days without a drink from a familiar before they begin to feel discomfort. The two most common side effects of missed meals are irritability and fatigue. Because human familiars can only be used once every 48 hours (Blue Bloods are told to never drain their victims), vampires often have several human familiars which they rotate on a schedule.

A familiar created by on vampire cannot be used for food by any other Blue Blood. Any Blue Blood that tries to take blood from the familiar of another will be poisoned by the taste, rather than nourished. To ignore the call of blood is starvation. Drinking from humans is not a lifestyle choice, but a means of survival.

Blue Bloods > Conduits

Although Conduits are human, the act of turning Conduits into familiars is strictly prohibited by the Committee. Conduits are servants to the Blue Blood cause, while familiars are sources of food. The law restricting this practice is not to be broken, as it would bring shame to both parties involved.

Blue Bloods > Blue Bloods

The easiest way for a Blue Blood to become a Silver Blood (Croatan) is to drain another Blue Blood. By consuming a fellow Blue Blood's life force (the memories of their past lives preserved in their blood), a vampire's blood turns silver (hence the name), and the former Blue Blood becomes a more powerful breed of vampire. However, Silver Bloods are both feared and hated in the Blue Blood community due to their ruthlessness and alliances with Lucifer. The practice of Blue Bloods consciously drinking from those of their kind is absolutely forbidden by the Committee.

Croatans > Red Bloods

It's an intentional misconception that Silver Bloods (Croatans) cannot drink from Red Bloods. This is because Silver Bloods are considered to be the evil race of vampires; they kill their victims and drink from others of their kind rather than follow a code. Once a vampire becomes a Croatan, the Committee claims that they are no longer able to drink human blood. To a Silver Blood, human blood is supposedly poisonous. This is a lie, propaganda spread by the Committee to scare Blue Bloods out of thoughts of dissent. It is the Blue Bloods' opinion that you can't have the "best of both worlds." Unwavering loyalty is essential to their cause.

Note: The same principle applies to familiars and conduits.

Croatans > Blue Bloods

A Silver Blood draining a Blue Blood is as natural a process as a Blue Blood drinking from a Red Blood or human familiar. Unlike Blue Bloods, who have strict rules against abusing those they drink from, Silver Bloods almost always drain their victims. This is because Croatans, known for being monsters, generally have less self-control when it comes to eating; it is difficult for a Silver Blood to force themselves to stop before their victim is dead. However, if a Silver Blood does manage to stop drinking before the Blue Blood dies, chances are they are planning on turning the vampire into a Croatan as well.

When a Blue Blood is nearly drained, the only way for them to survive their attack is to replenish their blood supply as quickly as possible. To live, they must find another Blue Blood and drain them for their blood. Usually, vampires who attack others Blue Bloods are desperate and not thinking logically; they act purely out of instinct. When a vampire drains a fellow Blue Blood, the attacking vampire's blood becomes silver. Another way to create a Silver Blood is for a Croatan to continually consume small amounts of blood from another vampire until his or her blood becomes tainted.

Because blue blood is a more powerful food source for a vampire (and because Croatans almost always drain their victims), Silver Bloods do not need to feed as often as Blue Bloods do.

Vampires > Animals

Vampires cannot drink from animals, only humans (or other vampires).

Vampires > Stored Blood

Stored blood (from blood banks and other sources) may be consumed on occasion, but it should by no means represent the bulk of a vampire's diet.
